There are no bus stations in Halesworth. There are a number of bus stops around the town, the main one for the centre being in Saxons Road, the main through road through the town. This is not ideal as it is the busiest road in the town and stopping does cause some obstruction and delay to passing traffic.
There is one train station. This provides five trains daily through to London Liverpool Street via Ipswich and Colchester on weekdays. There are a further four trains to Ipswich. All provide links to other rail services at Ipswich. There are ten trains to Lowestoft on a weekday. Links to Norwich and beyond are available from here.
There are eight through trains to London Liverpool Street on Saturdays, all calling at Ipswich and a further one train to Ipswich. There are nine trains to Lowestoft on Saturdays.
There are seven trains to both Ipswich and Lowestoft on Sundays.
The station has it’s own small car park providing 18 spaces and two disabled bays.
There are no coach parks.
The percentage of households without a car is 27%. This is based on data from National Statistics and from Oxford Consultants for Social Inclusion report on deprived areas in Suffolk 2008.
There are five car parks in Halesworth providing parking spaces for 302 cars.
There are two cycle paths. One starting in Chediston Road passing along Roman Road and through the Church meadows development to the town centre.
A second runs from the town centre along Norwich Road to Harrisons Lane. This represents about 3 miles of cycle paths.
The nearest large town is Lowestoft and is 35 minutes drive away. The train takes 32 minutes. The bus takes 81 minutes.
There are two bus services from local villages direct to Halesworth rail station. The 601 from Lowestoft to Halesworth from Monday to Saturday. The villages within the Blythe Valley affected by this service are Blythburgh, Wenhaston, Blyford and Holton. The 99B is a Sundays only service and affects the same villages.
The 521 (Beccles to Leiston) provides a service between Halesworth and Darsham Railway Station and, further afield, Saxmundham station. Both stations are on the same line as Halesworth. Only Bramfield and Darsham are affected.
Not taking into account the Schoolday only services, there are 9 bus routes servicing Halesworth and local villages in some way.

- 121: Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday : Halesworth - Ipswich.
- 521: Monday - Saturday : Beccles - Halesworth - Leiston.
- 498: Wednesdays : Harleston - Halesworth - Harleston.
- 532: Monday - Friday : Laxfield - Halesworth - Beccles - Lowestoft.
- 563: Thursday : Aldringham - Halesworth - Norwich - Aldeburgh
- 564: Mondays : Wickham Mkt - Halesworth - Norwich
- 588: Monday - Sunday : Halesworth - Norwich.
- 601: Monday - Saturday : Lowestoft - Halesworth.
In addition there is the Halesworth Area Community Transport bus (route 511 Mondays to Saturdays) providing regular, inexpensive transport to people in Halesworth and Holton. Also the Halesworth ‘Pathfinder’ bus service which runs similarly to a taxi but with the fare of a bus. This service is operated by the Halesworth Volunteer Centre
There are 8 disabled parking spaces in Halesworth. (Less than 3%).
