Cinema @ The Cut - THE WILD PEAR TREE (15)

on Wednesday, 26th June 2019
Venue: The Cut Arts Centre, Halesworth IP19 8BY link
Director Nuri Bilge Ceylan, 2018, Turkey, 189 mins, with Hazar Erguclu, Dogu Demirkol, Murat Cemcir, Akin Aksu.
Fans of this director will know that his films are gentle, humane, beautifully made and very long. The pace is slow and thoughtful, immersing the viewer in the lives of a rural community to which Sinan, a graduate and would-be writer, has returned. His feelings are ambiguous, a mixture of nostalgic longing for its beauty and irritation at the simple, unsophisticated way of life. Then there is Hatice, a beautiful young woman, reminding him of what it was like to be in love.
Ticket Details: Standard Ticket £6.00, Cinema Members £4.00
