Picasso, Braque, Matisse and DIY in Art. Artists in the first years of the 20th century re-imagined how a variety of materials could create different kinds of art. Sculpture, drawing and painting all became gloriously mixed up. Fiona FitzGerald will tease out the importance of these experimental approaches for the development of contemporary art. This talk links to the Royal Academy’s Picasso and Paper Exhibition.

From the same director of Casablanca here is a classic Warner Brothers gangster movie set in New York's crime-ridden Hell's Kitchen. Rocky and Jerry are childhood friends who grow up to follow very different paths - Rocky racketeering and Jerry the priesthood. When they meet again as adults Rocky is adored by the young delinquents that Jerry is trying to save from a life of crime and who also offer Rocky redemption.
