COFFEE CONCERT : Women Composers of British Song

Part of the 2021 Alwyn Music Festival, with James Gilchrist, tenor, and
Nathan Williamson, piano. Concert starts at 10:30am with refreshments available from 10:00am, and after the concert. This concert will last approximately one hour. No interval.
Presented here is a programme of songs entirely by women composers, spanning the 1920s to the 1970s. Featuring Doreen Carwithen: Complete songs, Rebecca Clarke: Twilight – The Seal Man – Eight O’Clock, Elizabeth Maconchy: A Hymn to God the Father, Madeleine Dring: Five Betjeman Songs.

Open Afternoon at Walpole Old Chapel

Come and visit this atmospheric Grade II* listed building, once a farmhouse but with a long history as a non-conformist meeting house, evidenced by its superb interior. Open every Saturday afternoon until the end of October.

Doors open 3:30pm, Concert starts at 4pm. Part of the 2021 Alwyn Music Festival, with Alexander Karpeyev and Nathan Williamson, pianos, Gary Kettel, percussion and Andrew Palmer, narrator. This concert will last approximately one hour. No interval.
Russian virtuoso pianist Alexander Karpeyev leads an ensemble of two pianos and percussion in a concert including the world premiere of a specially commissioned piece by Elis Pehkonen commemorating the tragic links forged between the Kennedy dynasty and Blythburgh during the Second World War.

Waveney & Blyth Arts : Spell Songs in the Green

The first of two showings today, at 5pm and 7pm. Live performance and launch of a creative film by Halesworth Community Choir with New Cut Dancers and local schools in collaboration with Waveney & Blyth Arts. Originally designed for an open air performance on the Halesworth Millennium Green, then skillfully adapted for film after Covid-19 restrictions prevented the planned performance. Join us in this celebration of our community in Halesworth, the beauty of its local nature and wildlife which, like all nature, is now fragile and threatened.

THE ROSSETTI ENSEMBLE

Doors open at 7pm, Concert starts at 7:30pm. The Finale of the 2021 Alwyn Music Festival, with Sara Trickey - violin, Sarah-Jane Bradley - viola, Tim Lowe - cello and John Lenehan - piano. There will be an interval, with refreshments available.
The members of the Rossetti Ensemble have become well-known to Alwyn Music Festival audiences over the years, and we are delighted to welcome them back with one of their trademark innovative programmes: Bridge, Brahms, Britten, Carwithen, Pärt, and the world premiere of a new work by Nathan Williamson.
