Wednesday Night Cinema : The Lighthouse (15)

on Wednesday, 24th August 2022
Venue: The Cut Arts Centre, Halesworth IP19 8BY link
USA, 2019. Director Robert Eggers. 98mins. With Robert Pattinson, Willem Dafoe. Taking its inspiration from an unfinished story by Edgar Allen Poe, maverick director Robert Egger's 'The Lighthouse' caused a critical storm on its 2019 release. Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson star as nineteenth-century wickies (lighthouse keepers) embroiled in psychological turmoil after being marooned at a remote New England outpost by a destructive storm. This strikingly visual and intense film, which draws from 1890s photography, 1930s French cinema and symbolist art, defies easy categorization, drawing from a range of styles - equal parts horror film, psychological thriller, and character study.
Ticket Details: Standard ticket £7+booking fee. Cinema Members £5+booking fee. Advance booking available online. See ticketsource.co.uk/booking/venueplan/tsGYfKjWonXT
